“Proving the Great Outdoors is for All.”

Argyll Activities Limited is a company wholly owned by Ardrishaig Community Trust.  The Trust has been given an
award by the Big Lottery Fund to find out about disability and access to sports in Argyll and we have been asked to
carry out a survey on behalf of the Trust to get information from the disabled community of Argyll on accessibility to
outdoor activities and sport.     We have been meeting disabled people and listening to their experiences about
activities in the outdoors and sport.   We are learning a great deal.   There is some spectacularly good sporting
provision that is inclusive and of very high quality in Argyll.  However sometimes a few activity providers get things
wrong and this can put people off.   It is important that everyone has the same opportunities to gain the benefits of
being outdoors and of physical activity.  However we know that disabled people participate less.  We want to find
out why and what might help.  We are very grateful to the disabled community of Argyll and Bute for their help in
this and for their leadership and guidance.  We are also grateful to our funders and supporters, the Big Lottery Fund
and the Scottish Community Development Centre.
